Top 10 Makeup Hacks

Hi Dotties, we know you love makeup hacks because being a girl is hard sometimes. Luckily, there are tons of beauty hacks out there that can make everyday life so much easier for us. Here are 10 useful makeup hacks that will definitely come in handy whenever you’re in a pinch:

  1. USE TRANSLUCENT POWDER TO MAKE LASHES LONGER AND FULLER

Here’s one awesome trick that’ll make your lashes look like falsies: Brush some translucent powder (baby powder works too) on your lashes after applying your first coat of mascara. Apply your second coat, add more powder, and then set with one last coat of mascara.

Another alternative is to check out Too Faced‘s Better Than False Lashes Nylon Lash Extension System. You can find it at Sephora!

2. CURL YOUR LASHES WITH A SPOON

If you lost your eyelash curler, a spoon works just as well when it comes to curling your lashes. To make the curl last longer, take your hair dryer and blast some hot air on the spoon to warm it up. Check out this video!

3. USE A SPOON TO CREATE THE PERFECT WINGED LINER

Place the handle of the spoon against your eye at an angle and draw a line from the corner of your eye going outwards. Next, place the head of the spoon against your top lid and draw a line following the curve of the spoon. Fill in the outline. Click here for the video demo!

4. USE KOOL-AID AS A LIP STAIN

Ran out of your favorite red lip stain? Head over to the kitchen and grab some Kool-Aid! Pour some into a teaspoon and, using a moistened finger, apply the powder to your lips. Next, take a damp Q-tip and rub over your lips to smooth out the clumps.

5. DARKEN YOUR FOUNDATION WITH BRONZER

Did you accidentally buy the wrong shade of foundation? Or perhaps you went on vacation and are now a little more sun kissed than you were a few days ago? Customize the shade of your current foundation by taking some bronzer (the liquid kind is best, but powder works too) and mixing it with your foundation. For pressed powder bronzers, just shave a bit of powder off with a clean spoon or makeup spatula. Check out a few of our favorite bronzers: Nars’ Bronzing Power, Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Power, and Makeup Forever’s Mat Bronze.

6. DRAW A HASHTAG ON YOUR LID FOR AN EASY SMOKEY EYE

Using a dark eyeliner pencil, draw a large hashtag on the outer corners of your eyes. Smudge them out with your fingers.

7. USE A BUSINESS CARD FOR A MORE PRECISE CONTOUR

Place a business card against your cheek—just under your cheekbone—and brush on some bronzer or contouring powder to contour your cheeks. Check out Michelle Phan’s video!

8. COAT EYELASH CURLER WITH GEL LINER TO TIGHT-LINE YOUR EYES

If you’re pressed for time, curl your lashes and tight-line your eyes at the same time by coating the rubber pad of your eyelash curler with some gel liner. The color will transfer to the underside of your top lashes as you curl, making your lashes appear thicker and your eyes more defined.

9. USE EYE DROPS TO FIX DRY, CLUMPY MASCARA

Don’t have time to replace your dry, clumpy mascara? Add a few drops of Visine to the mascara and shake to mix. This will give your mascara a new lease on life!

10. APPLY UNDER EYE CONCEALER IN AN INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE

Instead of dotting concealer under your eyes, draw an inverted triangle shape with your concealer, fill it in, and blend. Not only will this hide your dark under eye circles better, it will also make your face look brighter and more awake. Here’s also a great video that shows you how to conceal your eyes correctly.
